Rice field landscape with scientific overlay
About

OryzaNet is a new BBSRC-funded network bringing together rice researchers, scientists, social scientists, stakeholders and innovators to strengthen collaboration, share expertise, and shape the future of rice science.

Rice is a staple food for around half of the world's population and is central to global food security, nutrition, and livelihoods. As climate change places increasing pressure on rice-growing systems worldwide, coordinated, inclusive research has never been more important.

OryzaNet will provide a platform to connect researchers across disciplines and borders, amplify the impact of UK rice research, and build strong partnerships with global research communities.

OryzaNet is open to researchers at all career stages working in rice-related fields, including plant science, genetics, nutrition, computational biology, social science, and allied disciplines. The network also welcomes industry partners and stakeholders who are interested in supporting and engaging with cutting-edge rice research and innovation.

What OryzaNet will offer
  • International collaboration with researchers across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, and beyond
  • Conferences, workshops, and meetings addressing key challenges in rice research
  • Training opportunities in areas such as genomics, phenomics, gene editing, bioinformatics, and rice cultivation
  • Funding and grant opportunities, with a strong focus on supporting Early Career Researchers
  • Mentoring and community building to help develop the next generation of research leaders
