Pilot funding scheme
OryzaNet will offer a pilot funding scheme to support the exploration and development of collaborative exchanges and pilot projects in rice research. The scheme is designed to enable new ideas, partnerships, and approaches that have the potential to generate impactful discoveries and longer-term collaboration.
The first funding call is expected to launch in September 2026.
Further details on eligibility, application processes, and funded projects will be published on this page once the call opens. We encourage prospective applicants to join the OryzaNet network to receive updates and be the first to hear when funding opportunities are announced.
What the scheme will support
The pilot funding scheme will provide flexible, short-term support for activities that strengthen the rice research community and foster national and international collaboration. The scheme will be primarily aimed at Early Career Researchers (ECRs), while remaining open to the wider network where appropriate.
Funded activities are expected to:
- Encourage new or strengthened collaborations
- Support innovative research, tools, or methods
- Create foundations for future funding, publications, or shared resources
- Deliver benefits that extend beyond individual projects to the wider community
How funding decisions will be made
Funding calls will be open and competitive, with applications assessed against clear and transparent criteria. Decisions will be made through a panel process involving members of the OryzaNet leadership and governance structures.
Details of assessment criteria, timelines, and expectations for outputs will be shared when calls are launched.
Sharing outcomes
Outputs from funded activities will be showcased through OryzaNet events, meetings, and online channels, helping to share learning, highlight success stories, and build momentum across the network.
